Angelina Jolie Wants to Work With Tim Burton

In an interview with MTV, actress Angelina Jolia said to playing Maleficent: "I would love to. It’s all new and being discussed, but I loved her when I was a little girl. She was my favorite. Tim Burton, the chance to work with him would be extraordinary."
But of course there's been little confirmation that Tim Burton actuall is making this film anytime soon, or that he'll be working with Jolie.

Sleeping Beauty Revamp, Maleficent, Gets a Writer

Linda Woolverton, who just wrote Alice in Wonderland, is signed on to write Disney's Sleeping Beauty movie that is to tell the story of the evil witch, Maleficent. Tim Burton's name is still attached to the project, but that is not at all official as of right now. Getting a writer is the first big step to the movie being made, a director isn't signed on yet. Whether or not Tim Burton directs it, and if Helena Bonham Carter will be involved (if Burton does do it, it's very likely HBC, Johnny Depp and Danny Elfman will too, of course) is yet to be determined.

Tim Burton to Direct Sleeping Beauty Revamp???

That's right, Tim Burton *may* make a live action Sleeping Beauty (yes, another Disney story could become Burton-ized) that is told from the point of view of Maleficent, the evil Witch (is it to be called "Maleficent" as well.) Aintitcool.com says:

She was always the most interesting character in that story, but we never knew why she hated those three little fairy wenches... or what indignity she suffered at the hands of Aurora's parents. Yeah, I'm on board... if only it ends with Maleficent with a sword in her heart in dragon form. Cuz that'll rule. Think about how long this plotline was carried out over. She has quite a tale to tell. Let's see where it pops up in Burton's filmography. We're hearing that DARK SHADOWS is stumbling a bit... Let's see what Tim does next, he has some interesting choices before him.
