New Cast Members for Pirates 4

Den of Geeks reports that French actress, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, has been cast in Pirates 4 as a mermaid that Jack Sparrow encounters, and Ian McShane joins the cast as the villain. As far as previous cast members returning it looks like just Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa will be the only ones (no Keira Knightley or Orlando Bloom). Filming starts this summer.

Geoffrey Rush is excited for Pirates 4

Geoffry Rush (who plays Captain Barbosa in the Pirates films) is excited for Pirates 4, On Stranger Tides. He says, “They’re waiting for the screenplay writers to put together something that’s beyond the trilogy, take it off into a new direction so that it’s fresh and hopefully really interesting for an audience, that they’re not going to just sausage-machine out something else, which wouldn’t be so good.”

Too many internet reports have exaggerated Johnny Depp's lack of enthusiasm about the movie, due to the loss of Dick Cook, but I believe he will follow through with the movie (that's my thoughts, other sites seem to be stretching what Johnny said about being sad to not work with Cook, but he has also said that Capt. Jack is his favorite role, and he has the most fun on the pirates set, but what do you think will happen?). Though Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom are said to have turned down On Stranger Tides, which is mostly true. Rob Marshall to Replace Gore Verbinski on Pirates 4

Reports have stated that Disney has been looking at many different directors to replace Gore Verbinski for the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and they seem to have settled with Mr. Rob Marshall.

"For those of you who aren’t so familiar with Mr. Marshall, the announcement comes as a shock because the director is best known for his musical work. He’s only got a few jobs on his resume, but the big one is the 2002 Best Picture winner Chicago, which starred Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere, and Renee Zellweger. After that, he moved on to a less-musical period drama in Memoirs of a Geisha — which also pulled in some Oscar gold. His next due film is another musical based on an earlier screenplay written by the legendary Federico Fellini. The film is called Nine and it has a juggernaut cast including Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Kate Hudson, Dame Judi Dench, and Sophia Loren." (GeeksofDoom)

How do you feel about all of these cast (Bloom and Knightley) and crew not being in on #4? Frankly I am afraid that it's going to flop and it will ruin the franchise, all because they wanted more cash. Orlando Bloom Says He's Done With Pirates

Keira Knightley has already said her "pirating days are over", and now Orlando Bloom says that he too is done with the Pirate franchise. sources close to Bloom say he wants to walk out of the franchise as producers wish to concentrate on Depp's character in the film, reports contactmusic.com.
