Psst; Rumor Alert!

Rumor has it that Johnny Depp might buy Seattles' 'The Croc'. More from http://seattlest.com

Rumormonger Says Johnny Depp’s Buying the Croc

Free Me from the Lies...

Someone named Shilo Urban at Seattle-based CultureMob claimed yesterday that:

It’s going around the streets of Seattle like wildfire that Johnny Depp is going to buy the old Crocodile Cafe and make it much, much cooler (and hotter) than it ever was before.

Apparently Seattlest isn’t in touch with "the streets," cuz we haven’t heard a thing.

Or maybe we’re just not hanging with the right drunks.

This is from several unreliable sources, some of whom were at least partially inebriated at the time of bean-spillage. It’s a juicy one though, and Seattle would LOVE it to be true, am I right?

Or maybe because someone named Shilo Urban thought name-dropping Mr. Scissorhands would drive traffic to the Mob site.

If our amazing powers of cynicism are accurate, Johnny Depp’s interest in the former Crocodile Café starts and ends with shameless self-promotion.

Yeah, it’d be swell if Depp were down with Seattle club ownership. It’d be swell to see the Croc open again. But it’d also be swell if it hit 80 dry-sky degrees this weekend.

A Johnny Depp fan has paid £45,000 to appear with the actor in his new movie Public Enemies.

The unnamed bidder won an auction for a non-speaking role in the film, which revolves around the FBI's attempts to catch bank robber John Dillinger (Depp).

The fan will spend a day on set in the Chicago area later this month.

Cash from the charitybuzz.com auction will be donated to the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial, a human rights organisation.

Charitybuzz.com CEO Coppy Holzman said: "We are thrilled to have been able to raise so much money for Robert's wife Ethel Kennedy and The RFK Memorial."

The auction, which runs until May 14, also includes a tour of the Desperate Housewives set and the chance to meet Will Smith at the premiere of his new film Hancock.

Batmobile Sold On Ebay

http://www.t3.com/

We're gonna need a bigger driveway
It's powered by a Chevrolet 350 motor and there are no doors

Burton's Batman car for sale

Dunna-dunna-dunna-dunna eBayyyyyyyyy

Yeah so your shiny new Audi is pretty cool, but does it really turn heads as you cruise down the street, vying for attention against souped up Corsas with spoilers the size of Denmark and more fluorescent lights than a Shanghai strip club? In a word, no. What you need is the Batmobile.

Handily, that's exactly what you can get, as one of the original five motors used in the Keaton versus Jackson gothic classic directed by Tim Burton has gone on sale on eBay. This is Batmobile number five of five made, and featured in the first Batman movie. Originally owned by Warner Bros, any new owner will have to sign a contract and "some other legal items" regarding the car, which is a whopping 20 feet long and eight feet wide. Parallel parking should be fun then.

It's powered by a Chevrolet 350 motor and there are no doors - only the sliding canopy as seen in the movie. Cool.

We would look into the claimed 54 miles on the clock (check the clutch pedals, it could have been 'round the clock' once), but then it's hardly a motor for the school run.

Hit the link to eBay if you're interested, but prep the wallet first - the starting bid is a joker-tastic $500,000, with a 20% deposit due within 48 hours of the sale.

NIU student cast as extra in upcoming Depp flick
By JEN HANCE

Northern Star had the opportunity to sit down with Kaitlin Zordan, a senior biology major who was cast as an extra for the Chicago-filmed “Public Enemies,” starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Channing Tatum. The film is set for release in July 2009.

Northern Star: How did you hear about the casting call?
Kaitlin Zordan: My roommate’s mom told us about it about a month ago. She said that they were looking for extras for a new Johnny Depp movie being filmed in Chicago, and I was in!

NS: What was the audition process like?
KZ: Well, we had to wear a black dress and pumps. After the long wait, it only took about 10 minutes. We took a head shot and filled out an application with weird questions about our hobbies and things. One of the questions even had fire eating as an example.

NS: Were there any strange requirements?
KZ: Not really. I mean. the only requirements were that we be shorter than 5’9" and under a size 10 dress. Oh, and you have to be able to cut your hair.

NS: Really? Does that worry you? What if they shave your head?
KZ: If that is the price to pay to meet Johnny, I’ll do it! I’d do anything to meet him, even if I look like a boy in my graduation cap ... it would be totally worth it.

NS: What is the movie about and what scene are you in?
KZ: “Public Enemies” is set back in the 1930s during the prohibition time period. It is about the gangster John Dillinger. I’m in the ballroom scene and the biographer’s scene. I think I got my part because of my dance experience growing up, but tap, jazz and ballet are not exactly ballroom. They say that the ballroom scene is important, so I just hope that it is one that Johnny is in.

NS: How long will you be on the set?
KZ: I will be there one day for rehearsal, one day for costumes and three days of filming.

NS: Will you be paid?
KZ: Yeah, we get $65 for eight hours, and then time-and-a-half after that. I don’t really care if I get paid or not. I’ve never been around a movie set or anything, so this is a really cool experience for me.

NS: Have you had to sign anything swearing you to secrecy about the film?
KZ: Not yet, I really don’t know anything about it, but I will probably find out more when I go in around May 23.

Johnny Depp is Nominated For Best Villian (Sweeney) And Best Comedic Performance (Pirates Of The Caribbean) on the upcoming MTV Awards.

On the set of Public Enemies with Michael Mann and Johnny Depp in Oshkosh

Nearly two weeks ago, I was sitting inside the New Moon Café in Oshkosh waiting for a call to jump in an antique car and get to work on the set of Public Enemies. This historical gangster epic directed by Michael Mann and starring Johnny Depp as the infamous bank-robber John Dillinger was in the midst of a week-long shoot in the small Fox Valley city, the latest stop by the Universal Pictures production at numerous locations around the Badger State. There I witnessed a rookie extra -- in the opportunity of a lifetime -- display her dedication to getting it right.

Lori Halkoski-Prutz poses with her son, Ben, and husband, Bill, on the set of "Public Enemies." Contributed Photo

KRONENWETTER -- Lori Halkoski-Prutz just spent the past few days in a dream.

It was the 1930s. Gangsters were on the loose, and at one point, the FBI waged a chaotic raid.

Oh, and there were movie stars too.

The 40-year-old Kronenwetter woman, whose dream actually was reality, spent five days on the set of "Public Enemies," a film starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. Filming has taken place throughout Wisconsin, and the movie was most recently filmed at Little Bohemia Lodge in Manitowish Waters, where Halkoski-Prutz lent the production the 1930 Model A Ford truck built by her father.

"He would have just loved this," she said. "It's probably one of the highlights of my life, besides getting married and having my baby."

The film follows the exploits of gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd.

Halkoski-Prutz and others mainly tried to stay out of the way while director Michael Mann worked, moving their vehicles as needed and watching for celebrities.

After watching a number of scenes, including Mann's depiction of the FBI's failed attempt to capture the gangsters, Halkoski-Prutz was impressed.

"It's kind of scary," she said of the raid, which included a gritty gun battle with agents coming through the woods. "It seemed so real."

Halkoski-Prutz, and the others lending their vehicles, were asked to stay clear of the actors, but she still came within a few feet of Depp, her favorite actor, as he spoke with Mann.

"I just wanted to step in and start talking," she said, adding that Depp autographed a photo of her truck.

Life on set was a far cry from a nine-to-five job.

Halkoski-Prutz endured long days that began in the evening and finished in the early morning hours each day.

Sweeney Todd Broadway Tour Currently in Chicago!

The current national tour of the Stephen Sondheim/Hugh Wheeler musical "Sweeney Todd" blew into the Windy City for a two-week engagement at the Cadillac Palace Theatre this week, revealing that the show is so strong as originally written that almost any style of storytelling will reveal its truths. If this fact doesn't mark the show as a true performing arts masterwork, then I don't know how anything else could. This show, and this metaphor-laden production of it, are miraculous in their revealing of the human condition.

"Sweeney Todd" is now playing in Chicago for a limited two-week engagement at the Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W. Randolph St.) April 23-May 4, 2008. Tickets are available through the Broadway In Chicago Ticket Line at (312) 902-1400 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.

Sorry about the typo in the last post. I meant to say "two" not "fwo"!!!!!

Helena Reprising Role for Potter Films

HBC will be reprising her role as evil witch Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (filming) and the last two films: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (pt 1) and (pt 2). Yes, it has been confirmed that the last film will be split into fwo films, as the filmmakers decided it would do better justice to the plot and storyline. Thanks to everyone for keeping up (unlike us.) xoxo Chowzer
