Rumor Time! Johnny Depp to Play the Doctor in a Feature Length Film??

Internet rumors are so much fun! io9 reports that the latest rumor is that Johnny Depp will play the Doctor in a full length Dr. Who movie. It's crazy, and yet I can't help imagining the possible brilliance. Though I love Johnny (like seriously LOVE that man) my Dr. Who fangirl doesn't think it would work. The Dr. Who franchise has such loyal fans that if it's not perfect, the film will be a disaster. But there's pretty much nothing to worry about since it's just a rumor, and a fun one at that.

Crisis Averted! Update On Edwardscissorhands Remake

According to Sassyqarla.com a close source to Robert Pattinson says that an Edward Scissorhands remake  is definitely a hoax, which was kind of obvious because there was no official word to back it up, but it's nice to have confirmation  ^_^
It still had me scared (obviously, read the previous post and laugh at how upset the thought of a remake made me) for awhile. My day is much better now ;D

Addams Family Update

Even though rumor about Tim Burton making an Addams Family movie were said to be false, Burton's name is apparently still tied to the project according to producer Christopher Meledandri. He said that, as of now, the movie will be stop motion and not computer animated, and in 3-D.
When talking to Comingsoon he said: "It's all very, very early, but we are developing with [Tim Burton directing] in mind. We're just now at the story phase. Stuff has been written as though we are doing it in black and white, but that's not correct. It's not incorrect, but it's not correct. We haven't gotten to that point." So if Tim Burton gets confirmed as the director we'll of course let you know, but as of now it looks like he could or could not.

No! Don't Do This!

The internet is saying that an Edward Scissorhands remake is being thought of, and Robert Pattinson would star in it. [http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978331458]

OK, this is just not allowed. It doesn't even matter who would play Edward, the original is recognized as a beautiful, amazing and nearly perfect film, and those attributes could not possibly be captured in a remake with new people. The things that made it so great depended on so many talented people all doing the best work they could, from Tim Burton's vision of it and directing it to make the story in his head be what's on screen, to Johnny Depp's acting, to Danny Elfman's GORGEOUS score (that I often just listen to and marvel at how perfect it is), to Colleen Atwood's costumes, and SO many other people that worked together really well and complimented each other's skills and talents. A remake wouldn't be able to even be half as great as the original.

So, I'm really hoping that this is just another internet rumor, so far there isn't much for confirmation. I can't imagine Tim Burton being OK with this. If there is any kind of progression towards it getting made, I apologize now for all  my ranting about it that is sure to come.

And also, Johnny is planning on launching his own record label, and is apparently looking for interesting acts (according to The Sun he sent out talent scouts from Unison Music, which he founded). Rango Trailer

A [rather pointless] trailer was released for Disney's animated film, Rango, starring the voice of none other than Johnny Depp and directed by Pirates of the Caribbean director, Gore Verbinski. Depp plays "a chameleon with personal problems" but you won't get that at all from the trailer-- check out the IMDb page here for more info.

Alice on DVD

Alice in Wonderland came out on DVD and Blu-Ray today, and Disney Movie Rewards is offering a $10 off coupon on the Blu-Ray combo pack, get that here.

If you're not going to run out and buy the movie immediately, this should keep you busy until then-- character posters and clips over at Geeks Of Doom
and discover the Oraculum (the illustrated calender of all of the days of Underland) here and a Glossary of Underland here.

Finally, in a recent interview Helena reviled that she based the Red Queen's voice off of her daughter, Nell:
"The voice kind of came from my daughter; I thought that the Red Queen had arrested development and that I was pitching her about two years old... She's like a toddler, she has a tantrum all the time. She's a toddler tyrant - toddlers are tyrants!
"They've got no sympathy for any other living creatures... the toddler thing was a big thing. My two year old daughter - she is quieter now - was retrospective inspiration. Two is kind of the time when you don't have any empathy for any other living creature. You slap things and it's all about me. That's OK in a toddler but not in a grown-up toddler."
