21 Jump Street to Film and other top stories for May 16th

The US TV show that made Johnny Depp famous is making its way to the big screen, under the watchful eye of comedy star Jonah Hill, according to reports.

Depp found fame playing baby-faced police officer Tom Hanson in 1980s undercover cop series '21 Jump Street' when he was just 24.

The role helped him land parts in movies 'Cry Baby' and 'Edward Scissorhands', which catapulted him to Hollywood fame.

'Superbad' star Hill will serve as the new film's executive producer and script writer, and will be joined by the original series' co-creator Stephen J. Cannell, according to EW.COM.

Depp's camp has yet to confirm if he will consider a cameo appearance in the film.

An update on the Danny Elfman Ballet with Twyla Tharp and elfman music titled "Rabbits and Rouge," a new American Ballet Theatre piece at the Orange County Performing Artscenter. Tharp had a Broadway hit when she teamed with Billy Joel for "Movin' Out." Lightning may strike again (ocpac.org; Aug. 6-10).

Harry Potter Stars To Appear In CinemaNX Films
Variety reported CinemaNX, a new film financing and production venture bankrolled by the Isle of Man, has revealed its three new projects. Two of those projects will be Heartless and Wild Target whose cast will include stars from the Harry Potter films.

Heartless, an urban horror movie written and directed by Philip Ridley, will star Clemence Poesy (Fleur Delacoeur) and Timothy Spall (Wormtail), along with Jim Sturgess and Noel Clarke. Wild Target, a “hitman caper” produced by Martin Pope and Michael Rose of Magic Light Pictures, will star Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) and Bill Nighy.
