'Green Hornet' Will No Longer Have a Danny Elfman Score

Due to scheduling conflicts, Danny Elfman is officially off the Green Hornet movie (so sad). At the moment it appears as though James Newton Howard will be his replacement. I'm pretty disappointed by this; the world can always use more Danny Elfman movie scores, if you ask me.

Alice Review

Alice in Wonderland came out today, and if you haven't seen it yet I'd recommend you do as soon as possible. I thought it was amazing! Helena and the rest of the actors did a fantastic job with their characters,  the animation was beautiful, and Tim Burton did a good job with the story, I thought.
The list of great things about it goes on; Danny Elfman delivered a score that compliments the movie perfectly, as always, though I'm not sure how crazy I am about the Almost Alice soundtrack... But the instrumental tracks are lovely. The costumes were especially astounding-- Colleen Atwood is incredibly talented and I want her to make all of my clothes!
And, of course, Helena and Johnny continue to be brilliant and talented, but I don't want to give anything away about their performances. ;)
You should go out and see the movie, either in 3D or 2D (I am yet to see it in 3D, only 2D. If you saw it in 3D you should leave a comment with what you thought, did you think the 3D made it better? Should people make an effort to see it in 3D?)
The main complaint I've see in other reviews about Alice is regarding the story. (This may be considered a spoiler, so be warned) People expect the plot to be exactly like Lewis Carrol's Alice in Wonderland, seeing as it has that title, but the plot is that of Through the Looking Glass. I don't think the movie should be judged off of the title or prior expectations the audience has, so I recommend you look passed the fact that it's Through the Looking Glass but called Alice in Wonderland. I assume that was Disney's decision as to make the greatest profits by giving it that title.
So just go and enjoy the characters, the familiar story with the Burton edge, and Helena's giant head.

Danny Elfman to Orchestrate The Green Hornet

Film Score Monthly reports rumors (unconfirmed yet by Sony) that Danny Elfman will be doing the musical score for Michel Gondry's Green Hornet movie which stars Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, and Christoph Waltz. The film is currently in post production, set to be released December 12, 2010.

Wolfman Will Again Have Eflman Music?

Music Score Magazine reports that Danny Elfman's score will be used for the new Wolfman movie, after they previously said they wouldn't be using his music, instead of music by his replacement, Paul Haslinger. Elfman's tracks were said to be "old-fashioned" and they wanted a more electronic feel to the music. Not anymore, apparently *rejoice*
Wolfman is now worth seeing again (not that is wasn't before, but I personally wouldn't be able to enjoy it if the whole time I was thinking how much better the film could be with Elfman music..)

Will Danny Elfman Compose Again For Spider-Man 4?

Director Sam Raimi is planning a 4th Spider-Man movie (hopefully with a big role for Bruce Campbell, but that's for a different blog) and we wanna know if Danny Elfman will do the music again. Unfortunately we don't know yet, when asked by MTV he says, " Who knows? Only the great gods of the movie world could answer that question. Imagine a chess game, the Greek gods moving us around — that's how it is in the movie world. Somebody's moving me about from one square to another, but I have no idea what square I'm headed to next."

We'll just have to keep waiting...

Wolfman Will No Longer Have Danny Elfman Music?

Danny Elfman was said to be composing the music for the new Wolfman movie, but now they're saying he's been replaced by Paul Haslinger (composed the score for the first and third Underworld movies). Officials are saying this is due to schedueling conflicts, the release date has already been pushed around a few times, and he's just not working out (some internet rumors are saying Danny has "problems with the film" but that's not confirmed.) Danny Elfman's score has already been writen and recorded and has been called “a traditional, grandly gothic effort a la Kilar’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula” by Cinemusic.
I assume we'll probably get to hear at least some of this tracks at some point, either if they leak on the internet or are possibly released by the filmmakers or put on the DVD. We'll be seeing Wolfman set to Paul Haslinger music in January 2010.

Neglect?

There has been a lack of Helena news lately, so I'm sorry you haven't been able to get you HBC (and friends) fix from HBCfanclub, but when there's more movie news it'll be here!

But hey, it's October! If there's a time of year that SCREAMS Tim Burton creatures, Helena Hair, Johnny Depp's brooding eyes and Danny Elfman tunes it's Halloween.  And it's time for you to start working on your Halloween costume! (NO ONE is too old for Halloween!) If you're at a loss of who to dress up as, why not dress up as your favorite Nightmare Before Christmas character? How about Bellatrix or another Potter character? And there's always Capt. Jack Sparrow! When Hallows eve comes around and you put on your Burton-esk attire and gel up your hair to look like Helena's, snap a picture of yourself and send it our way, and we'll put it on the site!

Until then, you should watch some Depp/HBC/Burton movies and please your ears with Danny Elfman orchastration =)
