HBC Responds To Being Named 'Best Dressed'

When Helena saw she had been named '2010 International Best-Dressed Woman' in a Vanity Fair poll she said, "It was a triumph! It made me laugh because I thought it was a joke when I found out. But when I saw the article, I thought, 'Oh, the photos they've chosen are as bad as the ones they print when I'm worst dressed'.
“I think it's a more f--- it attitude. I don't feel any pressure to dress well. When I was younger, I cared more what people say.”

HBC Thinks Bellatrix is 'Sexy'

Read the full article from the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex Blog!
Here's a bit of what Helena had to say about her evil character:

"One moment she’s horribly revolting but then also weirdly sexy, maybe, or just disturbing to the mind when you watch her. There’s a lot of decaying, too, with the bad teeth. She’s been in prison for so long. The mad hair. She’s someone who has seen better times but still carries herself with the memory of what she was. She’s almost like someone who’s had too many surgeries and thinks they’re beautiful but in fact has gone the way wrong. There’s a lot of people like that now. For some reason, I can’t live with the joke that now you can either be old or you can be creepy. That’s the choice. Sad, isn’t it?”

Johnny Depp Talks Dark Shadows

About his character, Barnabas Collins,  in Tim Burton's upcoming adaption of Dark Shadows, Johnny Depp says:
"Tim and I have tossed the idea for Dark Shadows over the years. It was a TV program in the States in the late 60s and early 70s that I remember watching as a kid. I was obsessed with this character, Barnabas Collins, who was a vampire. I came to find out many years later that when he was a kid, Tim ran home like I did to watch that Gothic soap opera. It was a very strange thing back then. We looked at ways to go, story-wise. We've started to come up with something interesting."
Filming for Dark Shadows should start early next year.

On Stranger Tides Pre-Credits SPOLIERS

What's Playing has details about the opening, pre-credits, scenes of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Be warned-- there are spoilers, so stop reading if you want to avoid such things!
Film opens at night. Spanish fisherman spots something in the water. A Shape. He fishes out what he soon discovers is the body of an ancient sailor. The boat’s captain rushes over for a look - - before he can make his assessment, the thought-dead sailor’s eyes open. Sailor grabs Captain’s arm… fade out. The Captain and his aide then arrive at the regal residents of King Ferdinand, with said body, who inform the royal that the not-so-dead sailor claims to have sailed on a vessel belonging to the ship of Ponce de Leon, who died 200 years ago. Ferdinand’s first thought is that the sailor has found the legendary Fountain of Youth. He orders ‘The Spaniard’ to hit the seas in search of it.
What do you think? Are you excited for this movie or do you think the series should have ended at the third movie (or even the first?)

'Green Hornet' Will No Longer Have a Danny Elfman Score

Due to scheduling conflicts, Danny Elfman is officially off the Green Hornet movie (so sad). At the moment it appears as though James Newton Howard will be his replacement. I'm pretty disappointed by this; the world can always use more Danny Elfman movie scores, if you ask me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY J.K. and HARRY!

Yes, I know it isn't technically the 31st yet; however, as it is in the UK, I'm going ahead with my shout-out anyway!
Happy 45th Birthday to J.K. Rowling, without whom, the Harry Potter universe that includes Bellatrix Lestrange (which includes Helena Bonham Carter, courtesy of the film industry) would not exist!
Also nonexistent without Jo would be one Harry James Potter, who turns 30 today!
Once again, Happy Birthday! The world was made a better place with the birth of both Jo and Harry!
Please leave your birthday wishes in the comments!

Deathly Hallows Footage Description

Geeks of Doom attended the Warner Bros. panel yesterday at Comic-Con, and on that panel was Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) who introduced a clip of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. On their site they posted a description of the footage:
"The footage opens on Harry and also Voldemort. Voldemort is saying something to Harry about how his friends have hidden him and put themselves in danger because Harry won’t come out of hiding and face Voldemort.
We hear Voldemort talking to Harry while getting clips from the film.
[I think he says: “You have allowed your friends to hide your existence from me instead confronting your fate.”}
Voldemort threatens Harry: “If you will not give yourself up, I shall punish every last man, woman, and child who tries to conceal you form me.”
Then we see quick clips of battles and people being hurt.
Finally, we see Harry come to face Voldemort, who says “The boy who lived come to die,” and starts to say the “avada kedavra” curse on Harry.
There’s also some footage we’ve seen from the trailer, like Hermione holding up her wand in one hand with her own hand bloodied (in the trailer, the blood was taken out).
We see the group of Harry Potter doubles that are used as decoys.
There’s the sky battle sequence with Hagrid on the flying motorcycle with side car.
Bill Nighy’s as Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour says “Our world has faced no greater threat than it has today but your Ministry is strong.”
Snape is sitting with Voldemort and the Dark Lord’s followers. He’s telling Voldemort that Harry Potter is being taken to a safehouse to be hidden and that it wouldn’t be wise to try and get him there.
Hermione, Ron, and Harry in hiding in the wood, listening to the radio for news. There’s a message about what’s happening, how their world is under attack by the Dark forces.
Ron yells to Harry about how he listens to the radio every day to hear if Ginnie or his other family members are being named among the killed. Harry angrily responds: “You don’t think I listen too?” Ron yells to Harry that he doesn’t understand what it’s like to be worried like this because Harry has no family, which incites Harry to attack Ron. Hermione tries to get them to stop.
The last scene is Harry and Voldemort with their wands locked, with Voldemort’s voiceover: 'Only I can live forever.'"
They also say the footage was really dark and very very good. Hopefully I'll stumble upon the clip soon (it doesn't seem to have been posted on the internet yet... has anyone come across it? you should post the link in the comments) so I can pass it on to you all :)

Rumor Time! Johnny Depp to Play the Doctor in a Feature Length Film??

Internet rumors are so much fun! io9 reports that the latest rumor is that Johnny Depp will play the Doctor in a full length Dr. Who movie. It's crazy, and yet I can't help imagining the possible brilliance. Though I love Johnny (like seriously LOVE that man) my Dr. Who fangirl doesn't think it would work. The Dr. Who franchise has such loyal fans that if it's not perfect, the film will be a disaster. But there's pretty much nothing to worry about since it's just a rumor, and a fun one at that.

Crisis Averted! Update On Edwardscissorhands Remake

According to Sassyqarla.com a close source to Robert Pattinson says that an Edward Scissorhands remake  is definitely a hoax, which was kind of obvious because there was no official word to back it up, but it's nice to have confirmation  ^_^
It still had me scared (obviously, read the previous post and laugh at how upset the thought of a remake made me) for awhile. My day is much better now ;D

Addams Family Update

Even though rumor about Tim Burton making an Addams Family movie were said to be false, Burton's name is apparently still tied to the project according to producer Christopher Meledandri. He said that, as of now, the movie will be stop motion and not computer animated, and in 3-D.
When talking to Comingsoon he said: "It's all very, very early, but we are developing with [Tim Burton directing] in mind. We're just now at the story phase. Stuff has been written as though we are doing it in black and white, but that's not correct. It's not incorrect, but it's not correct. We haven't gotten to that point." So if Tim Burton gets confirmed as the director we'll of course let you know, but as of now it looks like he could or could not.

No! Don't Do This!

The internet is saying that an Edward Scissorhands remake is being thought of, and Robert Pattinson would star in it. [http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978331458]

OK, this is just not allowed. It doesn't even matter who would play Edward, the original is recognized as a beautiful, amazing and nearly perfect film, and those attributes could not possibly be captured in a remake with new people. The things that made it so great depended on so many talented people all doing the best work they could, from Tim Burton's vision of it and directing it to make the story in his head be what's on screen, to Johnny Depp's acting, to Danny Elfman's GORGEOUS score (that I often just listen to and marvel at how perfect it is), to Colleen Atwood's costumes, and SO many other people that worked together really well and complimented each other's skills and talents. A remake wouldn't be able to even be half as great as the original.

So, I'm really hoping that this is just another internet rumor, so far there isn't much for confirmation. I can't imagine Tim Burton being OK with this. If there is any kind of progression towards it getting made, I apologize now for all  my ranting about it that is sure to come.

xx
